Repatriating
the Ark Parabolas exhibition is multi-layered: it brings pieces of the original Tradescant cabinet from the Ashmolean Museum and the Museum of the History of Science, Oxford, back to Lambeth to be considered by a new audience. Evolving ideas about ownership, identity and authorship will be considered in a critically engaged examination of the nature of collection and procurement. 10 artists working in sculpture, video, drawing and mixed media are to be commissioned to investigate past, present and future notions of ownership, collection and assimilation. Parabola project |
|
A Season in Hell The title is inspired by Arthur Rimbauds A Season in Hell published in 1873. It stood as an example of poetic visionary sensibility. Hieronymus Bosch saw Hell and reported what he saw. Both influenced the Surrealist movement and are echoed in the works selected for this exhibition. |
