The childhood interdiction 'Don't eat with your mouth open' suggests that the interior should be interior and the exterior, exterior.  But inside and outside are not opposites, they are a division just like private and public.   Mutable, whether what is interior should be interior or why it should not be exterior are cultural questions which need to be asked.  Things that concern intimacy are not necessarily shut up inside, divisions can change, what is interior can also be on the outside, but how do we know if it is 'right'?
