Danielle Arnaud Venice is pleased to present
Polly Gould's sculpture Observation Hill at Palazzo Loredan as part
of the Venice Glass Week.
Observation Hill (2012) uses as reference the multiple
views of the same hill in Antarctica that were painted in
watercolour by the Antarctic explorer Edward Wilson (1872- 1912).
Anamorphic versions of these archival images repainted in
watercolour onto sandblasted glass. These distorted shaped
landscapes are corrected when reflected in the mirrored spheres,
creating views into miniature worlds.
The Venice Glass Week is an international festival founded in 2017
to celebrate, support and promote the art of glassmaking: the
artistic and economic activity for which the Lagoon City of Venice
has been renowned around the world for over1,000 years. The eighth
edition of the festival will take place around Venice, Mestre and
Murano from 14th to 22nd September2024.
The Venice Glass Week is promoted by Comune di Venezia and organised
by Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, LESTANZE DEL VETRO –
Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti
and Consorzio Promovetro Murano.
